Multitasking with Hivebench on iPad and iPhone 6(s) Plus
Just like a paper notebook isn’t always stuck on your desk, you can bring Hivebench everywhere using our mobile applications. The new update for iPad and iPhone significantly improves how you can use the app, powered by the latest iOS technologies.
iPad Multitasking
The iPad has always been more than just a “bigger iPhone”, and the new multitasking features might be the best evidence yet.
Introduced with iOS 9, Slide Over lets you check on a second application, without leaving the one you are already using. Split View extends this interaction by letting two applications run simultaneously, side-by-side.
Hivebench for iPad now supports both Slide Over and Split View. It means that you can work with Hivebench combined with another app (like a web browser, a reference manager, a lab utility, and so on). For instance, you can look at a protocol in Hivebench without leaving your article in PaperShip:
Or you can keep an eye on your timers from Laboratory Timer, while reading your experimental results in Hivebench:
Slide Over is available on iPad Pro, iPad Air or later, and iPad mini 2 or later. Split View is available on iPad Pro, iPad Air 2, and iPad mini 4.
iPhone 6(s) Plus Split Mode
Some people prefer working on their iPad, some prefer their iPhone… and some prefer their iPhone 6(s) Plus. Its unique format is a great opportunity for a dedicated, more flexible, interface.
With the latest version of the Hivebench app, the iPhone 6 Plus and iPhone 6s Plus in landscape offers a “Split Mode” button (⤡), to switch between a two column layout and a single column layout. It keeps your experiments in context, but also gives them all the space available when you need it.
