French actor in the Open Science movement, HackYourPhD aims to fulfill the gap between the research world and the society. Coming from the Parisian Science&Web sphere and the OuiShare community, HackYourPhD gathers and shares information to promote the new practices arising in science. Its motto is “science and access to knowledge as a common good”.

To do so, Célya Gruson-Daniel, co-founder and spokeswoman of HackYourPhD, will not hesitate to cross the Atlantic to meet and interview american people involved in the Open science movement. After a first experience last may during a 3-day colloquium organized by the “Science et Bien Commun” association at the Laval University (Quebec City, Quebec, Canada), HackYourPhD will go this summer on a 2-month journey across America. Known as “HackYourPhD aux States”, this project has been crowdfunded through a campaign on the KissKissBanBank web site, showing the great interest about Open Science of the French community.

This trip will offer the opportunity for HackYourPhD to exchange with the different actors of Open Science in America, from West to East. During the journey, a real-time documentary will be released on the web.

Shazino is proud to be a partner of HackYourPhD. We hope that the project will speed the Open Science French movement and contribute to forge closer links with American companies.
